Remember the epic trilogy between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic? Those fights were something else! Their last battle at UFC 252 was particularly intense. It was during this fight that Cormier had a sudden realization.
Both fighters were exhausted in the fifth round, but neither was backing down. Suddenly, Miocic grabbed Cormier and pinned him against the fence. Fans might think, “That happens all the time in MMA.” But here’s the kicker: Cormier couldn’t break free.
”I remember the fifth round of our last fight [ UFC 252], it was close, man, it was two rounds a piece, and he grabbed me, and he held me against the fence, I couldn’t even get away from it…That’s what I kind of knew, I was like, ‘man, I think my time is done,’” said Cormier via The Good Guy / Bad Guy.
Cormier’s wrestling credentials are no joke. He’s a Greco-Roman World medalist. Yet here he was, controlled by a guy who wrestled at Cleveland State. No disrespect to Cleveland State, but it’s not exactly known as a wrestling powerhouse.
It was at this point Daniel Cormier knew his time in the UFC was over. The two-division champion hung up his gloves shortly after. His legacy as a world-class fighter still remains. The battles he had with Jon Jones will always be talked about by MMA fans.

‘DC‘ expressed concern as he believed fighting with such an injury could be dangerous. But Askren had other ideas. He challenged the notion that one can’t fight with a cut over the eye. The argument escalated until Askren said this:
“But that’s because you’re not very tough,” said Askren playfully via Daniel Cormier YT.
This exchange highlighted a fascinating divide in fighter mentality. Fans will remember this debate the next time they watch a fight. There’s a whole world of strategy, psychology, and, yes, toughness at play in the MMA world.
