Alex Pereira had an interesting comment to make when Dricus Du Plessis called him out initially. Defending his belt against Sean Strickland, Du Plessis put on a scintillating show. While many thought the match would be a close one, the UFC middleweight champion looked quite dominant throughout. However, after securing a unanimous victory, Du Plessis expressed his wish to venture into a different weight class.
During his in-octagon interview with Daniel Cormier, DDP called out the UFC light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira. Surprisingly, DC himself revealed what Pereira had to say about the call out initially. It was found out that ‘Poatan’ thought that Du Plessis was ‘too small.’
“I told Pereira after the fight, ‘He wants you, Pereira.’ Pereira goes, ‘He’s just too small.’ Seriously. Pereira goes, ‘This man is just too small,'” narrated Cormier.

Now, Dricus Du Plessis has successfully defended his belt twice. While he is quite big for a middleweight, Alex Pereira is usually bigger than him. In a recent weigh in, ‘Poatan’ weighed in at 235 lbs! And while a bout with Pereira is not sanctioned yet, both the fighters seem pretty much interested in the bout.
Dricus Du Plessis Agrees With Alex Pereira’s Offer
Dricus Du Plessis was oozing confidence after winning in emphatic style against Strickland. While he broke Strickland’s nose, there was not much counter attack coming from ‘Tarzan’ throughout the bout. Quite expectedly, Du Plessis is now confident about taking down bigger opponents. After his intense in-octagon callout, ‘Poatan’ and ‘Stillknocks’ met backstage.
Pereira opined, “Let’s make it happen at 205.” Accepting the challenge quickly, DDP replied, “Deal.”

Surely, a matchup between the two will be an interesting prospect to watch out for. However, there has been no mention of the same from Dana White. As of now, Alex Pereira has Magomed Ankalaev to deal with in UFC 313. Once that fight is over, we are expected to get some clarity on the DDP-Pereira proposed super fight.
