UFC 300 was one of the most exciting and unique events of 2025. The UFC matchmakers assembled one of the most stacked cards for this milestone event. In the main event, Alex Pereira faced Jamahal Hill, with Pereira securing a stunning first-round knockout victory. However, it wasn’t just Pereira’s knockout that stood out—Max Holloway’s knockout of Justin Gaethje was one of the most spectacular finishes of the year. Furthermore, Daniel Cormier named Holloway’s knockout of Gaethje as the standout moment of 2024.
The former featherweight champion moved up to lightweight and secured a dramatic KO victory over Justin Gaethje with a right hand at 4:59 of Round 5. The last-second knockout was so incredible that UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier couldn’t help but label it the Knockout of the Year. During a recent episode of The Bohnfire with Mike Bohn on YouTube, Cormier shared his thoughts on the win, calling it one of the most memorable moments in recent history. In the interview ‘DC’ said,
“I don’t usually do this [rest his head in his hands], but I did when I saw it… Nothing gonna top that for me.”
Additionally, during the interview, Cormier reenacted his reaction to the knockout, placing his hands on his head in complete shock. The stunning finish left him, like many fans, in awe. UFC 300, with moments like this, has cemented itself as an event fans will never regret rewatching.
Daniel Cormier Crowns Ilia Topuria As Male Fighter Of The Year
Cormier has chosen Ilia Topuria as his pick for 2024 UFC Male Fighter of the Year, instead of Alex Pereira. On the Good Guy/Bad Guy Show, Cormier explained why he thinks Topuria’s accomplishments this year are more impressive. While Pereira had great wins over Jamahal Hill, Jiri Prochazka, and Khalil Rountree, Cormier believes Topuria’s victories over Volkanovski and Holloway stand out more. He said,
“Topuria beat Alexander Volkanovski, considered one of the greatest featherweights of all time. He beat Max Holloway, the third-best featherweight of all time. In terms of importance, he literally went in one year, Chael, and did away with the last eight years of the division.”
