The UFC is already planning to make 2025 a memorable year for fans. After announcing UFC 311, which features two title fights, rumors are swirling about a heavyweight title clash between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall. Recently, Daniel Cormier shared a major update on the fight and reacted to Dana White’s 100% guarantee of a Jones vs. Aspinall heavyweight title unification in 2025.
After Jones’ dominant victory over Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, fans began speculating about his next fight against interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall. Cormier is confident that the UFC heavyweight title unification bout between Jones and Aspinall will take place in 2025, following Dana White’s 100% guarantee. Cormier believes that win or lose, Jones will retire after the fight. In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, ‘DC’ also revealed that the UFC has offered a substantial purse for Jones to face Aspinall. In the interview, Cormier said,
“It tells me that they’ve given Jon Jones a number big enough to get it done. Because I always thought that Jones was kind of negotiating publicly. I don’t think for a second he’s afraid of anyone. I think that he was kind of going, ‘I want a number so big that I’m going to ride off into the sunset and be done.”
In the interview, Daniel Cormier also noted that win or lose, Jon Jones will focus on making money. Meanwhile, Jones shared that both he and Aspinall are entering high-stakes negotiations with the UFC for a potential record-breaking showdown.
