Jorge Masvidal was called in to fill in after the first designated combatant had coronavirus six days before the event. He consented, provided his prior demands were fulfilled, which resulted in one of his most profitable battles. He valued the money more than his performance in the battle, even though he lost.
During the interview, Masvidal told the MMA fans, “And six days before the fight, the other route that they went with catches Corona. And now the UFC calls me, and they need somebody who could fill in on six-day notice, fly across the world, cut 20 pounds of water in these six days, and fight for a world title.”
