The UFC’s Lightweight division has been the most happening in the past many years. There have been elite fighters in the division. One of them has been Tony Ferguson, ‘El Cucuy’. Ferguson has been in a massive slump for the past three years, and UFC President Dana White gave his take on what should be his next step.
Ferguson has been the top Lightweight contender for many years in the Lightweight division of the company. Ferguson has beaten many top-notch fighters but seems to be in the twilight of his career in the cage.
Dana White on Tony Ferguson
Ferguson is a title contender and has even acquired the interim lightweight title in the world a few years back. In an interview about Tony, Dana gave his take on his recent form in the octagon, and it might not go down well with Tony Ferguson. Dana said,
Yeah I hope so( Tony retires). I would like to him retire.
Dana White clarified that he wants Tony Ferguson to retire after his fight against Michael Chiesa in the octagon. Chiesa is a veteran in the Welterweight division. Ferguson will need to do something special to win the Welterweight bout. Tony has been on a seven-fight losing streak in the company. He went on a massive slump after getting beat up by Justin Gaethje in the octagon.
Michael Chiesa will probably take down Tony and try to finish him there before the bell rings. Ferguson is jumping up a weight class to fight in the octagon and will be a heavy underdog in the cage.
