Rumors and allegations fly fast in the MMA world. Recently, Justin Gaethje’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, claimed that Conor McGregor had ducked Gaethje five times. The allegation sparked chatter among fans and fighters alike. Everyone wanted to know: was McGregor really avoiding Gaethje? None other than Dana White answered this question, and the answer was not what some fans might have expected.
The UFC CEO quickly dismissed Abdelaziz’s claims during a recent DWCS press conference. White revealed that ‘The Notorious’ was one of those fighters who never said no to any fight. He even recalled an instance when he and Lorenzo Fertitta visited McGregor’s home to talk about a fight falling through, and McGregor’s response was golden.
”I don’t know if that’s true. I’ve said this many times and I’ll say it again, I mean, we actually have video footage of Lorenzo and I walking into his house, telling him the fight fell out, and he’s literally leaving going, ‘Well, I’m going to train, let me know who I’m fighting when I get back.’
This story paints a different picture than what Abdelaziz portrayed. Conor McGregor was known for his willingness to fight, especially against top opponents. To his credit, he had never pulled out of any fight as well, except the last one against Michael Chandler. White’s comments suggest that the Irishman isn’t one to shy away from competition.
Abdelaziz had further alleged that the former champion avoided challenges due to personal rivalries. According to him, McGregor didn’t want to face Gaethje because of some past Twitter spats. Whatever the case, fight fans may never know the real truth behind these allegations.

In a recent interview, McGregor shared his thoughts on the bare-knuckle promotion as a natural home for UFC veterans. He felt that many fighters, including Gaethje, would find the excitement and intensity of BKFC to be a perfect fit.
“We’ve seen former UFC champions, our UFC veterans move to another mixed martial arts fight promotion and do this…Now let’s take Justin Gaethje, who’s a UFC veteran, former BMF holder… Take him, let’s put him in bare-knuckle. That’s exciting, that is really really exciting,” said McGregor via The Mac Life.
The BKFC, although relatively new, has seen several former UFC stars try their hand in the ring. Names like Mike Perry, Luke Rockhold, and Eddie Alvarez have made the leap. But none have quite matched Perry’s success, who stands undefeated in the promotion. McGregor, with his flair for showmanship, could add a whole new dimension to the sport. And if Justin Gaethje decides to join in the future, it will bring a massive influx of eyeballs to the sport of BKFC.
