Conor McGregor’s long absence in the octagon finally saw the Irish star himself announcing a return later in 2024. However, that little moment of joy eventually faded after Dana White decided to dismiss his return until 2025. Soon after his comments, it wasn’t just the ‘Notorious’ claiming to fight in 2024, but another man found himself accusing the UFC CEO.
Michael Chandler, the scrapped UFC 303 match’s opponent for Conor McGregor, recently gave his reaction to White’s bizarre claim.
“Dana, as much as we love him, he has also said some things that were just absolutely false in press conferences and what not… which, that’s his job. Sometimes it’s his job to give you the exact information; his job is, sometimes, to give you misinformation. So sometimes, saying the fight isn’t happening this year might mean that this fight is happening this year. Just like he did when I already knew I was fighting June 29.”
Chandler’s comment certainly makes sense. After all, combat sports are all about building up curiosity. What if White is actually playing his cards to keep fans guessing? Well, fans will certainly know if the UFC 310 card doesn’t have McGregor’s name on it.
Michael Chandler Is All Ready To Fight Conor McGregor If Booked In December
The 38-year-old’s desperation to fight McGregor has been quite visible lately. His often-seen replies in the Irishman’s comment section certainly prove that he wants to fight him. But the ‘Notorious’ has been dodging for quite long now.
When McGregor agreed to fight in 2024 against Chandler, it was the UFC CEO who has been denying his return. Well, for Chandler, it’s all about fighting. Recently, in an exclusive interview with TMZ, the ‘Iron’ said he would fight anyone if not McGregor.

“If [Conor and I] can fight in December, let’s do it. I’m in. But the fact of the matter is I’ve stayed ready since I left training camp for that June 29 fight and I am staying ready to take a fight… Any fight… if this fight doesn’t look like it’s happening in December,” Chandler said.
There is absolutely no doubt McGregor vs. Chandler is great. But if the Irishman doesn’t want to fight, may be Chandler can have a new opponent. Well, it certainly goes back to the UFC CEO Dana White to grant Michael Chandler’s wishes.
