Dan Hooker and Justin Gaethje are gearing up for an all-out war at UFC 313, and the lightweight division’s reputation for hosting the toughest fighters isn’t slowing down. Legends like Dustin Poirier and reigning champ Islam Makhachev have always filled this division with top-tier killers. Ahead of their clash, Dan “Hangman” Hooker didn’t hold back, claiming the UFC might just want someone to die in there. Given the fact, this one’s going to be a bloodbath.
Hooker shared his thoughts on the upcoming bout with Gaethje, suggesting the UFC’s intention behind making it a five-round fight is to witness a brutal finish. Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Hooker noted that the promotion and fans are eager for an intense battle filled with blood and high stakes. He expressed his willingness to deliver, emphasizing he’s ready to step into deep waters for the right payday.
He said, “I just think the UFC wants to see someone die. I think they want a finish. They want this fight, as well, I feel like for the fans, as well, they want to see someone go down. want to see blood. They want to see rounds four and five… I’m happy to oblige for money.”

Both Dan Hooker and Justin Gaethje have built reputations as elite fighters, delivering blood-soaked wars throughout their careers. However, Hooker enters this clash riding high after a massive win over Mateusz Gamrot. Gaethje, on the other hand, looks to bounce back following his loss of the BMF title. With Islam Makhachev eyeing a potential fight against Gaethje next, all eyes will be on whether “The Highlight” can secure a crucial victory.
Islam Makhachev Eyes Justin Gaethje Fight In June
After his UFC 311 victory, Islam Makhachev seems less excited about rematches with Charles Oliveira or Arman Tsarukyan, given his past wins over them. However, a potential bout with Justin Gaethje catches his interest. Makhachev hinted that if Gaethje delivers an impressive performance against Dan Hooker at UFC 313, a June showdown could be on the table.

It’s worth noting that Gaethje is one of the few fighters to win a round against Khabib Nurmagomedov, a feat shared only with Conor McGregor. Consequently, a fight between Khabib’s protege and Gaethje promises fireworks, but Gaethje must first get past Hooker to make it happen.
