Dustin Poirier, fresh off a loss to Islam Makhachev, took to social media with a cryptic “Trilogy?” tweet. Now, most fight fans assumed he was eyeing a third dance with Justin Gaethje. After all, their first two encounters were the stuff of legend. But Dan Hooker is itching for round two.
The Kiwi fighter, never one to shy away from a scrap, chimed in with a simple post. He revealed that he would love the opportunity to have a rematch with Poirier sooner rather than later.
‘Rematch,’ posted Hooker via X.
The first fight between Hooker and Poirier was an absolute banger. Five rounds of non-stop action left both men battered, bruised, and with a hefty “Fight of the Night” bonus in their pockets. It’s the kind of fight that makes fans wonder how these guys do this for a living.
Poirier won that fight. And since then, he’s fought for the title twice. Hooker, on the other hand, has had a bit of a rollercoaster ride. He’s coming off a win against Mateusz Gamrot, but his recent record is filled with highs and lows.
Dustin Poirier Responds To Dan Hooker’s Rematch Suggestion
Poirier recently tossed out a single word on social media: “Trilogy?” And fans’ ears perked up. Was he gunning for another go with Justin Gaethje? But Dan Hooker fired back with his own one-word zinger: “Rematch.”

But Poirier wasn’t having it. He shut down Hooker’s suggestion fast. His reply was a simple warning that reminded ‘The Hangamn’ of why he did not want to rematch him after what he had done to him in their first fight.
“You Don’t really want that @danthehangman,” wrote Poirier via X.
Now the question remains: What is next for ‘The Diamond?’ A trilogy with Gaethje could be fireworks. But there are other intriguing options on the table. Beneil Dariush or Rafael Fiziev. Those matchups could produce enough highlights to fill a year’s worth of UFC promos!
