What Max Holloway did in his last fight was simply jaw-dropping, showing once again why he’s considered the best boxer in the UFC. His upcoming fight against Ilia Topuria at UFC 308 is shaping up to be a closely contested battle between two of the best right now. But as always, the big question leading up to any major fight is: who will win? Recently, Dan Hooker, who is also coming off a big win at the Australian event, was asked for his prediction. He picked Holloway, citing his greater experience as the key factor.
Recently, Dan Hooker sat down with The AllStar for an interview, where he discussed a range of topics from his upcoming fight to other matters. During the conversation, the discussion turned to Holloway vs. Topuria, a matchup that has fans glued eyes on.
When ‘Hangman’ was pressed to predict the outcome, he acknowledged that it was a tough fight. However, he mentioned that experience often makes a difference, and since Holloway has more of it, he believes ‘Blessed’ has the edge.
He stated, “It’s a toss up, this is like a 50-50 man. It’s an interesting fight, man. That’s going to be a real close battle, probably edge it towards Max just because he got so much experience and he is on top tier at the moment.”
Indeed, there’s no doubt that Holloway’s extensive experience of fighting on big stages gives him a huge advantage. However, all that can change with just one well-placed strike. Given Topuria’s impressive performance in his last fight, it’s clear this won’t be a walk in the park. But for Hooker, it’s ‘Blessed’ who holds the edge going into the fight.

He stated, “The dude is just f***ing phenomenal. One of the things that is phenomenal about him is his technique… The speed, man, The f***ing speed of that. Look at the hand speed. F***ing incredible.”
With every big name backing them, fighters are getting more pumped and confident leading up to the fight. But it all boils down to how well they prepare for each other. And in the end, that’s the only thing that will matter.
