Ronda Rousey will always be remembered as the pioneer of the women’s UFC division, being the first-ever champion and a dominant force inside the octagon. Her success in the UFC laid the foundation for future female fighters, and her impact stretched beyond MMA into WWE and Hollywood, making her a global star. Now, Dan Hardy has drawn comparisons between Rousey and rising PFL star Dakota Ditcheve, highlighting her well-rounded skills.
Talking to Bloody Elbow, Hardy pointed out that Rousey was a pioneer in women’s MMA, known for dominating with her grappling and armbar. He mentioned that Ditcheva, however, is more well-rounded, showing strong skills in all areas of the sport over the past two years, making her different from Rousey’s more focused approach. Not only that he also claimed Ditcheva can beat anybody in the sport.
He said, “And her takedown defense coupled with those Muay Thai knees could put anybody away. And she’s also got the frame that’s perfect for this weight class. I could make the argument right now that she could beat anybody in this weight class on the planet.”
With a perfect 14-0 record, her bright future in the MMA excites fans, who are eager for what’s next. If Ditcheve can continue to develop and showcase the same level of talent and versatility, she could follow in Rousey’s footsteps and make a big mark on the sport.
Why Doesn’t Ronda Rousey Attend UFC Events?
Even after stepping away from the octagon, Ronda Rousey has made it clear that she’s not exactly itching to return to a UFC event anytime soon. After the tough loss to Amanda Nunes in 2016 and her eventual retirement, Rousey said she feels like the MMA media has turned against her. She said that everyone had already expressed negativity, and now she feels almost unwelcome in the scene.
The thought of walking into a UFC arena? She’s sure it’d lead to nothing but boos. It’s a cold reception she’s not ready to face. Rousey said, “I’m pretty sure if I walked into the arena, I’d be booed. That’s how it feels.”
