Craig Jones recently joined Joe Rogan’s podcast, where they discussed various topics, including an incident where Jones’ ear began to swell. Jones, an Australian grappler and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, is also a coach and an IBJJF World No-Gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion at the white belt level. Let’s delve into what Jones shared about his injury.
Craig Jones Reveals to Joe Rogan the Story Behind His Swollen Ear
Joe Rogan interviews Craig Jones, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, coach, and champion grappler. During the podcast, Rogan comments on Jones’s unique way of wearing headphones and their professional appearance. However, Jones explains that he wears them that way due to a hearing issue.
“My hearing hey it’s fading in my old age” Jones said; Joe Rogan replied with, “do you have fuedup ears because of the cauliflower it is fk up your hearing.” Then Jones said, “Yeah just one of them I thought it was cool until the inner ear started to swell and it was messing with my hearing i was like that’s not cool anymore”
This detail underscored the physical strain high-level grappling imposes on athletes, highlighting the frequently unnoticed difficulties they encounter outside the ring. Cauliflower ear, for example, can develop when blood accumulates in the outer ear following an injury and isn’t properly drained or becomes infected.
This condition commonly results from sports-related injuries, particularly in wrestling. As a grappler and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, Jones has injured his ear during training, a problem many athletes face. Cauliflower ear is a frequent issue among those in high-contact sports, highlighting the physical demands of their training routines.
