Conor McGregor’s fight with Michael Chandler had been long teased. Earlier, the two fighters were set to lock horns at the UFC 303. However, after the ‘Notorious’ suffered a toe injury, the match suffered a cancellation. Since then, speculation regarding the potential matchup has erupted in the entire combat sports fraternity.
While McGregor himself confirmed his return could happen later in 2024, it seems Chandler had been nothing but a very long one. Amid all this, the American fighter recently took to his X handle to react to a post from MMA On Point. His comment read, “Me and max in 2025…” indicating a potential match-up with Max Holloway.
Soon after, fans jumped into the post and dismissed potential McGregor vs. Chandler. They even claimed that Chandler was ready to take an away look from the ‘Notorious.’ One of the fans wrote, “Finally moving on from McGregor?”
While one fan called ‘UFC King’ felt that Chandler wasted enough time for McGregror, his comment read, “You wish. You wasted too much time.” In the middle of this, a fan replied to the aforementioned user and wrote, “At least he is open to fighting other people again. It’s like his arranged marriage is finally over.”

Will Conor McGregor Return To UFC In 2024?
McGregor’s return saga has been the most talked about lately in the combat sports world. However, recently, the Irishman took it upon himself to confirm his comeback scheduled for later this 2024. But this got even more confusing when the UFC CEO Dana White bashed the chances of the ‘Notorious’ fighting later this year.
The drama became even more complicated when McGregor dismissed White’s claims. Soon after, his opponent Chandler also accused the UFC CEO of spreading misinformation.
Things are certainly very confusing for MMA fans. Considering McGregor vs. Chandler would be a main event, only two flagship events are left to announce their card-UFC 309 and UFC 310. So, if they don’t make it to these tournaments, fans will certainly have to wait a little longer to see the ‘Notorious’ back in the octagon.
