The Road House, starring Conor McGregor and Jake Gyllenhaal for the contemporary version of the cult film from the 1980s, was a big hit on Prime Video. It follows that the news of Amazon MGM Studios’ intention to finish the plot is not shocking.
According to Variety, Amazon has formally acknowledged that Road House 2 is being developed. Jake Gyllenhaal, the lead actor, has been cast again as Dalton, the bouncer who used to be a fighter in the UFC. Nevertheless, the studio has not disclosed the plot of the future instalment in any further detail.
According to Amazon, after making its Prime Video debut on March 21, “Road House” has amassed roughly 80 million global watchers. Throughout its first two weekends, the picture garnered an unprecedented 50 million viewers globally, making it the most-watched film opening ever for Amazon MGM Studios.

Doug Lima directed the action movie, which starred Jake Gyllenhaal in the major role. Daniela Melchior, Jessica Williams, Joaquim de Almeida, Conor McGregor, Lukas Gage, and Billy Magnussen also starred. Given the animosity before the movie’s release, whether the filmmaker or the cast will return to helm the follow-up is unknown.
The film’s director declared he would not attend its South by Southwest Festival debut. Lead actor Jake Gyllenhaal attempted to set the record straight, pointing out that Amazon had informed them it was intended for streaming.
In addition to reaffirming the movie’s conclusions, McGregor declared he would not play Knox in the follow-up. The UFC champion shared the news of the sequel on Instagram Stories, writing, “Congrats guys, I wish you all the best of luck with it,” along with two emojis: a prayer hand and a red heart. He also added that in the Prime Video comments section’s Instagram announcement.
