Conor McGregor is no stranger to controversy. Whether trash-talking his opponent or getting involved in a lawsuit, ‘The Notorious’ has experienced it all. However, in one of the most surprising events, McGregor garnered the attention of the Animal Rights protection organization PETA. Back in 2019, the former UFC champ openly flaunted a couple of mink fur coats from Gucci.
While both the coats were exquisite and rare, the price will surely turn heads. According to McGregor, his coats cost him $55,000 and $80,000 each. Such an open display of the mink fur coats led to PETA intervening with a request. They asked ‘Mystic Mac’ to donate the coats to PETA’s fur amnesty program.
“Animals on fur farms are never given a fighting chance. They’re confined to cramped wire cages and denied everything that is natural and important to them,” read the letter from PETA, signed by their director, Elisa Allen.
However, the Irishman did not comply with the request. Instead, he continued to flaunt his precious belongings. McGregor also spoke about passing on the coats to his offspring in the near future. Now, this was surely a huge controversy from the past. In the present, too, there have been ample noises regarding ‘The Notorious’ return.
