After sustaining a leg injury at UFC 264 in July 2021, Conor McGregor has been absent from the octagon. While he hinted at a potential return against Michael Chandler in June during International Fight Week, there is still no official confirmation.
Fans eagerly awaited updates on McGregor’s comeback, and in a recent interview with BackstageOL, he discussed his upcoming film ‘Road House’ with co-stars Lukas Gage and JD Pardo. When questioned about his next fight, McGregor provided insight.
”I’m hoping to get it. You can tell Hunter, your man, that you know that is new kind in there to get the ball rolling. I’ve got this work out here, lot of press, lot of partying at St Patrick’s and after that I’m in fight Camp. I got my team here, we’re ready to go. So hopefully June 29th, please I’m going get going.” McGregor said.
During the UFC 299 post-fight press conference on Saturday night, White was questioned about McGregor’s current situation and the potential for a third bout against Nate Diaz. While the initial opponent for McGregor was thought to be Michael Chandler, White hinted at the possibility of a matchup with Nate Diaz, indicating that the opponent is not yet finalized.
