Looking like a celebrity can be quite lucztive if done the right way, but not for a guy who finds himself in serious trouble after he took his looks of looking like Conor McGregor way too far.
A McGregor lookalike was just sentenced to nearly three years in prison after pretending to be the MMA fighter in order to sell drugs.
34-year-old Mark Nye was pulled over last February when officers spotted him trying to dump a package of illegal narcotics and two cellphones, the Irish Post reported. He allegedly told cops his name was “Conor” as they found hundreds of business cards for “McGregor Enterprise” inside his car.
Police said he was using the cards as part of his drug-dealing business in suburban London. Hundreds of text messages would soon be found detailing Nye’s drug-dealing activities. Police later found a chemical used to cut narcotics in his home.
Earlier this month, the fake Conor was sentenced to nearly three years, pleading guilty to possession of class A drugs with the intent to supply, in Guildford Crown Court.
As far as the real McGregor goes, he is getting set to square off against Dustin Poirier again on July 10.
