Conor McGregor’s last-minute decision to pull out of the UFC 303 didn’t really sit well with fans. He cited a toe injury that forced him to withdraw from his main event match against Michael Chandler. The Irishman’s absence in Dublin on June 3 caused the press conference to get called off, leaving fans furious. Moreover, week after week, the Mac faced the wrath of critics, finding not much support until recently!
The 35-year-old would have never thought he would find backing from his longtime rival, Nate Diaz. Speaking on the MightyCast podcast, the American MMA fighter supported the man he had fought twice in the octagon.
Nate Diaz Has Epic Reply To Conor McGregor’s Trolls
In 2016, Diaz and McGregor faced each other twice. While both of them won one match each, it was never expected that the rivals would have a better relationship in the future.
After McGregor withdrew just ten days before UFC 303, fans were left in a nutshell about the decision. His arch-rival Diaz backed the Irishman and told the host, Demetrious Johnson, that making a decision to protect his body wasn’t wrong. The American said,
That’s experience, he was fcked up when he fought his last fight and I’ve been fcked up in hella fights… I don’t like to cry about it afterwards because your ass shouldn’t have came to the fight if you were fcked up, that’s how I think about it. … Shouldn’t have shown up and got your ass whooped, you still got your ass whooped. So I’m like, from the inexperience angle, all the people are fcking talking shit but he doesn’t give a f*ck and I felt the same way.
Nate Diaz also extended a suggestion to Conor McGregor to re-book his fight with Chandler once he gets better. It is noteworthy that the Mac has not fought since July 2021. So, it will be interesting to see if he uses his megastar status to shut his critics up when he returns to the octagon!
