The MMA world has seen more than its fair share of feuds and rivalries. But sometimes, even the most heated conflicts can cool down unexpectedly. Such is the case with Conor McGregor and Sean O’Malley, two of the UFC’s most colorful characters. For months, these two striking specialists have been trading barbs like they were in the Octagon.
But now, in a twist that’s got fans buzzing, McGregor has done a complete 180. He has not just buried the hatchet; he’s offering to sharpen O’Malley’s axe. ‘The Notorious’ took to X to accept an olive branch from O’Malley.
“Sean is a fighting legend! UFC champion and an incredible superstar! I would love, love, love to see, and I can set it up fully, himself and his long time coach, Tim Welch, do a stint in Ireland. He has a shot at regaining it still for sure, but for himself, and also his coach to spend a good month, to begin with, not a long time, but a good solid month under coach Kav at SBG.”
But Conor McGregor didn’t stop there. He went full Irish hospitality mode, inviting O’Malley and his coach, Tim Welch, to Ireland. He proposed a four-week training camp at SBG Ireland under John Kavanagh’s tutelage.
Conor McGregor’s confidence in this plan is palpable. He believes this stint would help O’Malley “regain the Gold.” It’s a bold claim, considering O’Malley’s recent loss to Merab Dvalishvili. The idea of these two powerhouses training together is tantalizing, and fans are all for it.

Sean O’Malley acknowledged Conor McGregor’s significant role in his career and called the Irishman an inspiration, even if he is not currently one. ‘Suga’ didn’t stop there, as he expressed genuine concern for McGregor’s well-being and pointed out the challenges of sudden fame and wealth.
“Me and Conor have been going back and forth, here and there or whatever but at the end of the day, he played an important role in my career…I would like to, personally as a fan, see him come back but also, I hope he’s just doing okay. He has a big family now, a bunch of kids, and I hope he’s doing good.”
O’Malley’s empathy is refreshing in a sport often dominated by bravado. He recognized the pressure McGregor faces with his growing family and massive fortune. It’s like suddenly being handed the keys to a Bugatti when you have only ever driven a bicycle!
