If you ask Conor McGregor, the feud between him and Dustin Poirier is not over. Not by a long shot.
McGregor underwent surgery after breaking his tibia during his UFC 264 loss to Dustin Poirier. Following the surgery, Conor took to instagram to tell his fans that he’s feeling good and is expected to spend six weeks on crutches before beginning to rebuild the strength in his leg.
And while he was at it, he took a shot at his opponent by calling Poirier’s victory, “illegitimate.”
“Just out of the surgery room, everything went to plan, everything went perfect and I’m feeling tremendous. We’ve got six weeks on a crutch now and then we begin to build back…
“It was a hell of a first round. It would have been nice to get into that second round and then, you know, see what’s what. But it is what it is. That’s the nature of the business. A clean break of the tibia and it was not to be. Dustin, you can celebrate that illegitimate win all you want but you’ve done nothing in there. That second round would have shown all.”
“And, you know, on wards and upwards we go, team. We dust ourselves off. We build ourselves back. And we come back stronger than ever.
Sounds like there’s a very good chance we could get a Poirier vs. McGregor part 4. McGregor wants it. Poirier wants it. And I bet the fans want it as well.
Hopefully McGregor’s recovery goes according to plan so that Dan White can make it happen.
