There’s no doubt Conor McGregor is one of the biggest superstars UFC has ever seen, amassing fans, money, and fame, but he’s also faced his fair share of legal battles. From business dealings to his personal life, McGregor has fought many battles in the courtroom. One of the most serious fights he’s currently dealing with involves sexual assault allegations. Now, he’s firing back strongly, denying all the accusations in a Dublin court.
On Wednesday, McGregor hit back hard in a Dublin court, denying he sexually assaulted a woman in 2018. He called the civil case against him and James Lawrence “full of lies.” The Irishman claimed his encounter with the woman was “fully consensual”. And insisted he didn’t force anyone to do anything against their will.
Talking about the trial, this was McGregor’s first time on the stand after six days, proving he’s ready to fight this legal battle just like any of his fights in the ring. On the other hand, the woman testified last week that she didn’t want to be there and was on antidepressants at the time.
Meanwhile, now that McGregor has denied all the allegations, the judge informed the jury—eight women and four men—that the trial is expected to last two weeks. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds as it will affect the future of McGregor.
When Will Conor McGregor Return To The UFC?
Amidst all these court cases, talk of Conor McGregor’s return has quieted down. However, if the court finds him guilty of the charges, he will still return to the octagon in the first quarter of 2025, as originally planned.
The last fans heard from McGregor about his return was at the BKFC Spain event, where he announced to the world that his next fight would be against Dan Hooker in February, in Saudi Arabia.
