Former two-division champion Conor McGregor mocked UFC veteran Chael Sonnen following his induction into the UFC Hall of Fame during the 2024 International Fight Week. The two UFC stars are embroiled in a feud, with Sonnen initially mocking McGregor for his UFC 303 pullout. Recently, ‘The Notorious’ responded by belittling Sonnen over alleged ‘copycat’ behavior.
Conor McGregor Mocks Chael Sonnen Following Hall of Fame Induction
Sonnen was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on June 27. McGregor’s tweet directly referenced their memorable 2013 interaction when Sonnen mocked him for wearing tight pants and shoes. Back then, Sonnen ridiculed McGregor’s style, but fast-forward to 2024, and Chael is sporting slim-fit pants and big glasses, which are the fashion choices he once derided. McGregor didn’t miss the opportunity to point out this irony and mocked the veteran for copying him.
But ‘The Notorious‘ didn’t stop there. He trolled Sonnen for never having been a champion, contrasting it with his status as a former two-division champion. McGregor mocked Sonnen for copying him, writing on X, “It’s normal for these never been champions to copy the double champ.” McGregor’s behavior of mocking his opponents is typical, solidifying his reputation as one of the best trash talkers in the UFC.
Sonnen regularly posts criticism videos on his YouTube channel and criticized McGregor for pulling out of UFC 303. Meanwhile, McGregor is still struggling to make his comeback to the Octagon. Many fans eagerly await his return, but his next fight remains uncertain due to his injury before his last scheduled bout.
