Colby Covington made a much-awaited return to the octagon back in December 2024. Unfortunately, his comeback thrill was cut short significantly. Facing off against Joaquin Buckley, ‘Chaos’ failed to capitalize as ring rust was pretty evident on him. After getting knocked out in the third round, Covington looked to get back to the drawing board and re-evaluate.
And surely, ‘Chaos’ has come up with yet another surprising move. Competing in the welterweight division, the 36-year-old hinted at a move up in the weight class. And the first name that he called out was none other than the former UFC middleweight champion, Sean Strickland.
“Honestly, 185 is intriguing. The Sean Strickland fight is always interesting. I don’t think he’s anything special. He’s got a jab, a front kick… He’s very limited; he’s just a cardio kickboxer. It’s an entertaining fight that I might entertain in the future. We’ll see,” Covington stated via an interaction with Submission Radio.

Now, Covington may be interested in punching someone above his weight at the moment. However, fighters from his own weight class have been calling him out despite his humbling loss.
Gilbert Burns Calls Out Colby Covington In A Sarcastic Manner
‘Chaos’ might have failed to secure a victory in his comeback match. But that is not stopping his peers from calling him out and throwing shades at the fighter. Recently, former welterweight title contender, Gilbert Burns issued a sarcastic statement towards Colby Covington.
“Miami April! Just ✍️ the contract! I know you not showing up! @ColbyCovMMA” wrote Burns on his X account recently.
