During a conversation with TNT Sports, Garbrandt relived some of his career highlights, including his first UFC fight at UFC 182 against Marcus Brimage. The UFC 300 is airing live on Discovery+ and TNT Sports.
UFC 182 Cody felt he was ready to enter UFC with its homecoming event against Marcus Brimage. Cody felt like he was more ready than ever. But was also aware of the fact that Marcus had more experience inside the ring than him as he said, “He had more UFC fights than I had”
At UFC 182, TAM’s Cody Garbrandt made a lasting impression by finishing Marcus Brimage in a bantamweight match with a late burst. At the MGM Grand, the fight was stopped via TKO at 4:50 of the third round.

Brimage scored two low blow kicks in a furious first round, neither of which was called back. Garbrandt made a late charge, but before he could get going, the horn went off.
In the first round, Garbrandt also thinks he shattered his right hand, but he persevered.

With the game Brimage hanging in there and landing counters, Garbrandt mostly drove the play in the frantic second and third rounds. However, Garbrandt finished the bout with a counter left hook, a right, and a last left to the jaw that floored Brimage and made Herb Dean wave it off.
