A lot has gone into making the UFC what it is right now. It was started by Royce Gracie the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu legend and businessman Art Davie. The first event was held on 1993 in Colorado. The objective of the company at time was clear, to find the most effective martial art with minimal rules and no weight classes.
Since the first event a lot has changed. Three decades later the UFC is celebrating its landmark 300th pay-per-view event. The card will have some of the most exciting matchups and the biggest names from the company. Its hard to pick one fight over the other but seasoned journalist Ariel Helwani gave out his pick on what fight he’s looking forward to the most.
Ariel Helwani elaborated on his favorite matchup in UFC 300
Ariel Helwani has been covering the sport for more than a decade now. He definitely knows what goes on behind the scenes given that he has interviewed almost all the big names in the UFC. He recently had a rather uncanny pick when asked about which matchup he’s looking forward to the most in the upcoming UFC event UFC 300. Helwani said,
Kayla- Holly. Number one. Arman-Charles. Max-Justin. Cody-Figueredo. Pereira-Jamal. What would you guys say?
Helwani made it clear that he’s looking forward to the debut of martial arts legend Kayla Harrison. Harrison is a legend in her own right. She became a champion in a different MMA organization and is an Olympic gold medalist. She’s well known for her Judo credentials and taking down her opponents in a rather creative fashion. Kayla will be taking on Holly Holms who is a veteran and a former champion in the UFC.
Ariel picked the bout between Charles and Arman in the second place. The fight fans are looking forward for this matchup given both the fighters are known for putting pressure on their opponents. This is possibly a title-eliminator fight in the lightweight division. It’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top in all these mouth-watering matchups next month only on pay-per-view.
