Ilia Topuria is riding high on confidence since knocking out Alexander Volkanovski and taking the UFC Gold back home to Spain. Topuria has beaten almost every major contender, barring one in Max Holloway. Holloway comes fresh off a victory against Justin Gaethje when he finishes his fight in the final round. Max is the newly crowned BMF champion in the UFC. Ilia Topuria had much to say about Max being his next rival inside the octagon and threatened the former champion.
Ilia is one of the very few European champions. If he can overcome Max Holloway, he will stay on top of the featherweight rankings for a while.
Ilia Topuria sends out a threat to Max Holloway
Featherweight champion Ilia Topuria was in the stands when Max Holloway made history by knocking out Gaethje in the BMF bout of the UFC 300. Topuria is not letting Max’s impressive knockout victory hamper his confidence. In an interview given recently, he had a challenge for Holloway if and when they scrap inside of the octagon. Topuria said,
Just bring the same energy you had in the last ten seconds but bring them in the first ten seconds.
Ilia Topuria was pointing out the wild exchange that Max had with Justin in the final seconds of their five-round fight and challenged Max to get into a wild scramble with him in the very first round of their title fight. Ilia is confident that he will finish Max if they ever decide to get into a wild scramble. He claims he can beat Max in any way he wants and desires when they meet later this year inside the octagon.
Ilia Topuria beat Alexander Volkanovski in a rather impressive fashion the last time he stepped inside the octagon. He has also beaten some thought contenders, including Bryce Mitchell, Josh Emmett, and Jai Herbert. There has been no one in the UFC who proved to be a difficult matchup for Ilia, as he beat everyone with relative ease. Topuria is unbeaten in his UFC career so far. It’ll be interesting to see if Topuria will lose his zero from his record after facing Max Holloway.
