In the UFC, fighters have aired their grievances like thunder rumbling before a storm. They’ve voiced their frustrations over paltry paychecks, questionable judgments from referees, and even poor matchmaking by Dana White and his crew. But this time, the ire of the fighters has turned toward the fight commission. That’s right—recently, Brendan Allen raised his voice, calling out the French fight commission and accusing it of corruption. It’s a bold move that echoes the frustrations of many, as fighters demand accountability in a sport where their livelihoods are on the line.
The middleweight contender claimed that after his weigh-in, the fight commission demanded urine samples when he was severely dehydrated, forcing him to wait three hours before he could finally urinate. To make matters worse, they also requested a blood sample. This situation not only created physical discomfort but also added stress just before his fight.
In his words, “France has the most corrupt way of dealing with fighters ever in the whole world. Had f**king over 40 fights, fought outside the country [United States], in the country, different states, that state, made weight, no problem. And they’re going to tell me that I have to give blood or urine. First they said urine, that I have to give urine right off the scale. So dehydrated, just waited three hours, finally have to pee. Then they tell me I got to give blood on top of that. I do the urine [test].”
Brendan Allen Claims He and Renato Moicano Were Treated Unfairly Compared to French Fighters
Furthermore, Allen expressed frustration about how the commission handled blood testing. He said they first took a blood sample but then claimed they didn’t get enough and wanted to take more. He refused, saying he shouldn’t have to go through that. Adding to that, he pointed out that he and Moicano both had major fights and were treated this way, while the two French fighters didn’t have to deal with any of it—they could just relax and enjoy their time. He was very upset and called the place a “shi*hole.”
He stated, “So just me and [Renato] Moicano had to do this. The two most important fights on the card and the two Frenchman didn’t get to have anything. They just get to go to their room. Sleep, chill, eat. Do everything they want to do. F**k this place.”
There have been incidents in the UFC where fighters have expressed anger toward the organizations, but this time it’s directed at the fight commission, which is responsible for ensuring that fights happen fairly and without causing problems for the fighters. But accusing them of being unfair because of hometown favoritism is really going overboard.
