UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is once again in trouble, but this time around, it’s for something he did outside of the Octagon.
According to arrest records obtained by MMA Fighting — Jones was picked up in the early morning hours of Thursday and has already been released from custody.
Police say Jones consented to a sobriety test and failed miserably. They added he was given a Breathalyzer he tested at least twice above the legal limit.
After Jones was arrested, a black handgun was found underneath the driver’s seat along with a bottle of Recuerdo behind the passenger’s seat.
Jones was charged with aggravated DWI, negligent use of a firearm and possession of an open container.
“As part of the investigation into this incident, our Gun Violence Reduction Unit will test the firearm and bullet casing to determine whether the gun has been used in any crimes,” Gilbert Gallegos, communications director for the Albuquerque Police said in a statement sent to MMA Fighting. “Reducing gun violence in Albuquerque is our top priority.”
