Moicano is now a lightweight but began his UFC career as a featherweight. The Brazilian now has coined himself as ‘Money’ Moicano, a tribute to his intense desire to make as much money as possible. The lightweight recently competed at UFC 300, securing a come-from-behind TKO victory over Jalin Turner.
Renato Moicano lauds the UFC’s promotional machine
Alex Pereira became a sensation in the UFC in a relatively short time. The light heavyweight champion’s star status is second only to Conor McGregor. Interestingly, Renato Moicano has found a striking reason for Pereira’s star status, which he revealed on X.
“A lot of ppl like to trash UFC but think about Alex pereira!!! He’s a monster and take every opportunity possible but UFC visibility it’s unparalleled!!! He was world kickboxing champion but very few people knew him!!! Now he’s biggest UFC star #ufc #ufc303,” tweeted Moicano.
Moicano’s statement makes sense, as Pereira was Glory Kickboxing’s first simultaneous double champion but didn’t have the popularity he has now as a UFC champion. Moicano and several other figures have lauded the UFC promotional machine before. However, the promotional machine has also faced criticism, especially from haters. Nonetheless, even rivals have praised it.
After Conor McGregor’s injury, the UFC roped in Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka to replace McGregor and Michael Chandler. It is amazing that Pereira has now replaced Jon Jones at UFC 295, headlined UFC 300, and replaced McGregor. It is a testament to how the UFC and fight fans see Pereira – as a superstar!
