The UFC Louisville went down last weekend and was a rather spectacular affair. The main event was headlined by Jared Cnnonier and Nassourdine Imavov taking on each other in a scintillating Middleweight bout. The bout was stopped in round four when the referee saw Cannonier struggling against Nassourdine Imavov.
Jared Cannonier is one of the top Middleweights in the UFC, and with a victory over Imavov, he was all set to move closer to the title.
John McCarty on Jared Cannonier and Imavov fight
UFC Veteran referee John McCarthy gave his take on the fight between Jared Cannonier and Nassourdine Imavov. Imavov won the fight via fourth-round TKO. Cannonier was visibly hurt in the fourth round absorbing Imavov’s strikes. Jason Herzog was presiding over the event as the referee. Herzog ended the contest, which many thought was an early stoppage. McCarthy said,
Jason Herzog, he’s my friend youstopped it a little too early.
John McCarthy made it clear that he thinks the fight between Jared Cannonier and Nassourdine Imavov could have gone a little longer in the cage. Cannonier was hurt, but he still had gas left in his tank. It was a rather interesting claim made by the big John McCarthy. Nassourdine Imamvov took home the win and might have gotten close to a title shot in the Middleweight division of the UFC. Jared Cannonier now has to go to the back of the line again and try and work his way to the top.
Nassourdine Imavov was already an absolute favorite in the bout and satisfied the odds well. McCarthy’s observation was rather interesting, as there have been many occasions when the refs have controversially ended fights in the octagon. It will be interesting to see what the UFC has to say on the matter and if Jared Cannonier will open up about his loss.
