Benoit Saint-Denis revealed his response to the defeat against Dustin Poirier, saying his “body was absent.” After receiving antibiotics for a week, In the second round of their UFC 299 co-main event, “The Diamond” devastatingly stopped the French lightweight contender, who had dominated the first round with his superior grappling skills.
Saint-Denis was directly in Poirier’s face and displayed aggression immediately away. Even though he had “The Diamonds” back a few times, Poirier’s experience ultimately prevailed. In the second stanza, Poirier used his right hand to knock Saint-Denis out.

The 28-year-old has since resorted to social media to express his first feelings following the disheartening defeat to Poirier, acknowledging that the reports of infection were accurate and that taking medicines had affected his performance:

“Unfortunately tonight I couldn’t fully express myself. My body didn’t keep up after a week of antibiotics to fight an infection.
Throughout I was present but my body was absent, it did not react as usual. I only had one round to give you.

Benoit shouldn’t have let his guard down, if he was to fight an experienced fighter like Dustin Poirier, if he had been on medication, it would have made up for the early fatigue felt by the fighter during the second round.
