One name that has been talked about for over a month is Belal Muhammad. The reason? His upcoming fight against Leon Edwards at UFC 304. However, this time, he made headlines for his ongoing beef with Middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis. Speaking about him with UFC commentator Jon Anik, Muhammad said he would humble Du Plessis easily and that he is no match for Islam Makhachev’s skills.
Belal Muhammad lashed out at Dricus Du Plessis
Muhammad recently suggested that Makhachev go directly and fight for the middleweight title against Du Plessis to set the context. However, this didn’t sit well with the South Africans. Replying to that, Du Plessis labeled Belal Muhammad a ‘loser.’
And now, Muhammad has lashed out against Du Plessis, directly questioning his skills. ‘Remember the Name’ said he would easily dominate him and still supports Makhachev in taking him out effortlessly for the second belt. In his words, “I was trying to be nice about it but honestly du Plessis su**s… skill for skill I would dominate du Plessis. I don’t think he’s that good. I do think Islam Makhachev would dominate him and out-grapple him.”
It will be interesting to see what happens next in the middleweight division. Rumor has it that Du Plessis will fight Israel Adesanya at UFC 305. However, it would be an entertaining fight if fans saw Muhammad or Makhachev vs. Du Plessis.
Given the ongoing beef, Muhammad seems likely to get the fight due to the backstory and buildup. However, only time will tell what the future holds for both and the middleweight division. For now, Belal Muhammad has his next target locked, Edwards, at UFC 304 in Manchester, where he will put his all into securing the welterweight title and dismiss the skepticism about him.
