Sean O’Malley is currently ruling the Bantamweight division in the UFC. There have been a couple of times in the company when a fighter has fought in two weight classes. O’Malley carries the knockout pedigree with him in the octagon. Given his massive reach advantage, he can snipe out his opponents from a distance. His head coach, Tim Welch, revealed what happened when he and Alexandre Pantoja decided to get into a sparring session a few years back.
Pantoja and O’Malley recently defended their belts in the octagon. Both won by unanimous decision.
Sean O’Malley’s head coach makes a revelation
Alexandre Pantoja is the current Flyweight champion of the world and recently scored a victory against Steve Erceg in the main event of the UFC 302. Pantoja took down Erceg several times in the octagon and even got the better of his Australian counterpart in the striking exchanges. Pantoja called out a ton of fighters in the post-fight interview. Sean’s head coach, Tim Welch, revealed what happened when Pantoja and O’Malley came to blows. Welch said,
He dropped Pantoja with a body shot.
Tim Welch made it clear a couple of years back when O’Malley and Pantoja came to blows. Sean dropped the Brazilian with a brutal body shot. Sean O’Malley used his massive reach and size advantage to severely damage Alexandre Pantoja. A division currently separates Sean O’Malley and Alexandre Pantoja. Pantoja was unhappy with the video posted by Tim Welch, O’Malley’s coach in the UFC.
Pantoja challenged Sean to release the complete footage of the sparring session. It’ll be interesting to see if Pantoja will ever capture the UFC belt in the company’s Bantamweight division. If Pantoja and O’Malley were to scrap in the octagon, it would surely be a massive event, and they would sell a ton of pay-per-views. It will be interesting to see what happens in the Flyweight and the Bantamweight division of the UFC soon in the upcoming months.
