Arman Tsarukyan has previously beaten Islam Makhachev! While this is a shocking piece of news, the revelation comes from none other than the title challenger himself. Now, we all know that Tsarukyan and Makhachev faced off against each other once in the UFC. Back in 2019, the duo clashed at UFC Fight Night 149. While the Armenian fighter suffered a defeat, it now seems that it was not actually the first time they squared off inside the octagon.
In a recent conversation with ESPN MMA, the lightweight title challenger made a surprising claim. “He’s not as good as people think… I mean, people think he’s unbeatable, crazy wrestling. But I took him down when I was 22 years old, so,” Tsarukyan pointed out. Now, there have been no comments from Makhachev as he will be bracing up to defend his title one more time.
Meanwhile, as there is still some time for UFC 311, Tsarukyan has already started planning ahead. ‘Ahalkalakets’ is utterly confident of his victory against the current lightweight champ. Thus, he wants to take on yet another UFC legend next.
Arman Tsarukyan Hopes For A Charles Oliveira Fight
Charles Oliveira almost had Arman Tsarukyan tap out in their meeting at UFC 300. Showing immense defensive skills, Tsarukyan came out of the chokehold and turned the tables to secure the victory. However, despite the victory, Oliveira’s submission attempt soon became the talk of the town. Thus, after dealing with Makhachev, the Armenian wants to fight the Brazilian again.
“Charles Oliveira is one of the best in our division. And I feel like Islam [Makhachev] Charles Oliveira and me are the top three in the lightweight division right now. Because Charles beat everybody in the top 15. I beat everybody too,” said Tsarukyan in a conversation with TNT Sports. Thus, with Tsarukyan looking confident, it remains to be seen how things pan out for him in the future.
