Throughout UFC history, numerous fighters have entered the octagon to demonstrate their skill and grit. However, only a few have cemented their place as legends. Naturally, fans and fighters alike have their personal top 5 lists of UFC greats. Recently, talking about the same, Alexander Volkanovski shared his picks, though one surprising omission stood out: Khabib Nurmagomedov.
In a recent video, Alexander Volkanovski responded to a fan’s question about his top 5 fighters of all time. His list included Demetrious Johnson, Jon Jones, Israel Adesanya, Anderson Silva, and Georges St-Pierre. While many legends like Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo could have made the cut, it seems the Australian champ has firmly decided on his picks, sparking plenty of discussion among MMA fans.
He said, “I’m gonna pick Demetrious Johnson. Jon Jones…You can’t deny his skill. He’s definitely one of the greatest of all time. Georges St-Pierre has definitely got to be there. I’m gonna throw Anderson Silva in there. And my boy Israel Adesanya. A lot of championships, and when it comes to striking, I honestly think he’s the greatest striker the UFC has ever seen.”
The omission of Khabib Nurmagomedov from Volkanovski’s list is undeniably surprising, especially since they competed in the same era. However, it appears Alexander Volkanovski has his own perspective on what defines greatness in his top 5. Just like Dana White and others, personal biases often shape these rankings, reflecting individual views on skill, influence, and legacy in the sport.
Alexander Volkanvoski Ready To Fight Alex Pereira
In recent news, Volkanovski discussed the possibility of fighting Alex Pereira during a fan Q&A. He acknowledged Pereira’s size and power, saying he would focus on grappling and takedowns instead of striking. While he admitted it would be a tough fight, ‘The Great’ said the financial reward makes it tempting and emphasized the importance of avoiding Pereira’s dangerous striking.
In his words, “The price is right I’ll do it, I would…I’m a confident guy but I ain’t going to stand there with that bloke, let’s be real. I’ll go for everything hoping I could get that takedown cause if you don’t you’re gonna be in for some hurt and that’s for sure.”

A fight between the two seems impossible due to a significant size difference. The weight classes they compete in are far apart, making it highly unlikely for them to meet inside the octagon. Fans can only dream about such a matchup, as the gap is simply too large to overcome.
