Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka will headline UFC 303 after Conor McGregor got injured and bowed out of the main event. Pereira single-handedly saved the UFC 303 main card by agreeing to scrap Jiri for his third title defense. In an interview, Alex Pereira expressed his desire to fight later this year despite taking up the fight on short notice.
Pereira is possibly the biggest name in the UFC right now, with Conor Mcgregor not in the picture.
Alex Pereira wants to fight in New York
The Brazilian Poatan, Alex Pereira, has already acquired titles at two different weight divisions and has beaten five former champions in nine octagon appearances. He is easily the fan favorite in the UFC right now. In an interview recently, Pereira opened up on his desire to fight again later this year at a special venue in New York. He said,
I have the time to fight till the end of the year till Novembr, December. Who knows? In Madison square garden, a spot where I feel very good at.
Alex Pereira clarified that he wants to fight again after UFC 303 in Madison Square Garden this year. This statement shows why Poatan is currently the biggest star in the UFC. He also headlined UFC 300 about two months ago in the octagon against Jamahal Hill. Pereira, on his social media handle, revealed that he wants to take on the biggest challenges in the UFC and is fuelled by his ancestor’s blood flowing in his veins.
Pereira has already beaten Jiri Prochazka, but many think the fight was a bit unfair, as the referee stopped it early. Jiri Prochazka is coming off an impressive victory over Alexander Rakic, who he finished in the third round. Prochazka’s ability to take damage is on another level in the octagon, and therefore, it is going to be a close fight in the cage. Will Pereira remain undefeated in the Light Heavyweight division, or will Prochazka defeat him for the first time and upset the odds?
