After emerging as one of the best light heavyweight fighters, Alex Pereira is now looking to settle his only kickboxing loss. Artem Vakhitov, the last man to defeat Pereira in kickboxing, earned a UFC contract with a knockout win over Islem Masraf on ‘Dana White’s Contender Series.’ Following the fight, Alex Pereira passionately urged Dana White to sign his former rival to the UFC.
Pereira, now a global star and headlining nearly all major PPVs this year, recently secured one of the best wins of his career at UFC 307 against Khalil Rountree Jr. However, Pereira has now turned his attention toward getting Artem Vakhitov signed to the UFC. After Vakhitov’s first-round knockout win, UFC President Dana White revealed that a conversation with Pereira convinced him to bring the Russian fighter into the promotion. During the post-fight press conference, White said,
“‘He [Pereira] said, ‘Obviously, a little more clinching than you would expect.’ You would expect the other guy to clinch with him, not him clinching. But he said, ‘This is what I think. I think he’s talented enough. I think he deserves to be here. He’s had, obviously, a ton of fights in his career.”
As ‘Poatan’ attended the Contender Series event, he personally congratulated Artem Vakhitov on his victory. Vakhitov, in turn, expressed his mutual respect for Pereira’s remarkable success in MMA over the past few years. Pereira has indeed gained immense fame and wealth through his fights, with his recent win at UFC 307 earning him a multimillion-dollar payday.

Pereira continues to dominate the light heavyweight division, securing his third consecutive win and successful title defense this year. In front of an electrified Delta Center crowd, ‘Poatan’ stopped Khalil Rountree with a TKO in the fourth round, keeping his undefeated record in the division intact.
According to Sporty Salaries, Pereira secured a guaranteed $750k for the bout, with his total earnings potentially reaching $3 million based on PPV sales. Since the PPV performed well and gate sales were strong, Pereira likely earned the full $3 million.

In the early rounds, ‘Poatan’ took heavy shots from Rountree Jr., but as Rountree tired, Pereira remained patient and capitalized. Now at the height of his career, it’s unclear who the Brazilian will face next, leaving fans curious about his next challenge.
