Now, Poatan’s elevated status has made fans speculate some big name fights out of his weight division. And chief among them are Tom Aspinall and Jon Jones.
Earlier, Alex Pereira expressed his wish to come up to the heavyweight division. In a recent exchange with Ariel Helwani, the Brazilian was asked if he would be willing to fight Tom Aspinall. The response that the light heavyweight champion came up with was quite surprising.
“I’ll fight anybody at heavyweight. But I’m the champion, and Jon Jones is the champion. If Aspinall was the champion, I’d want to fight him,” Pereira said.

Well, it is clear that the UFC light heavyweight champion is eyeing for yet another title. If he manages to win it, Pereira would become the first three division champion in UFC history. However, before any of those happens, Pereira will have to defend his belt next against Magomed Ankalaev. And the Russian has some bad intentions for Pereira.

Alex Pereira vs Magomed Ankalaev has been a long awaited fight. Finally, as UFC 313 draws near, the hype surrounding the bout is shooting through the roof. Interestingly, before the fight, Magomed Ankalaev made his intentions pretty clear.
“You just sign your death certificate I’m gonna punish you for ducking me and I’m gonna make you look like a guy work in a tire shop not professional Fighter,” said Ankalaev.

Well, this is not the first time that Ankalaev has called Pereira out. He previously mentioned that he will stand up to the champion and knock him out. Thus, with Ankalaev looking determined to dethrone the champion, it remains to be seen how things pan out in the future.
