Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill have not ended their animosity even after their fight in the main event of UFC 300. Pereira had knocked out Hill in the first round and celebrated with the popular Khaby Lame TikTok emote, showcasing the Brazilian’s humorous side.
Almost two months have passed since UFC 300. However, Hill recently criticized Pereira’s celebration on Instagram as disrespectful, citing his respect for Glover Teixeira, Pereira’s mentor and coach. Pereira provided an apt response in the comments section of the post.
Alex Pereira explains his response to Jamahal Hill
Pereira is recently in Australia, where videos circulated about Brazilian sparring with heavyweight Tai Tuisava and the hilarious barbershop skit he did with the heavyweight. Fox’s Niko Pajarillo caught up with Pereira for an interview where he explained his “You reap what you sow, chama 🔥” on Hill’s Instagram post.
“That’s what I meant, right. You reap what you sow. He gave an example of Glover’s fight, right? Very respectful there and such after the fight, but I think that also before the fight, it was very respectful. So, he gave respect, received respect. And he disrespected me, and I didn’t think it was disrespect. I only did what was just payback there,” said Pereira in his native Portuguese.
Rumors circulate that Pereira’s next fight will be a rematch against Jiri Prochazka, who he beat at UFC 295. Prochazka also fought at UFC 300, knocking out Aleksandar Rakic in the prelims. Nonetheless, Pereira stated he has no qualms about fighting other opponents, particularly Magomed Ankalaev.
As for Hill, he is in the co-main event of UFC 300 against Carlos Ulberg, a teammate of Israel Adesanya, the long-time rival of Pereira. If victorious against Ulberg, Hill might leapfrog Prochazka and Ankalaev for a title shot against Pereira. Nevertheless, Prochazka will always be the front-runner to fight next.
