Alex Pereira seems to be ready for yet another title fight. Last year, Pereira shocked the UFC world by turning up three times to defend his title. However, things got a little controversial before his final title defense against Khalil Rountree Jr. Most of the UFC fans anticipated a match-up between ‘Poatan’ and Magomed Ankalaev. Unfortunately, that did not happen. While Ankalaev was pitted against Aleksandar Rakic, Pereira faced Rountree Jr.
Now, with a Pereira vs. Ankalaev bout almost looking certain, things once again look clouded. In a recent update from the UFC light heavyweight champion, his next title defense will not be Magomed Ankalaev! “It won’t be Ankalaev!” He also added a video of his bout against Khalil Rountree Jr. However, Pereira did not reveal who his potential next opponent will be.

Tensions between Ankalaev and Pereira have been ongoing for quite a while. While the Russian fighter vowed to knock out Pereira, Poatan has also been accused of ducking the fight. Meanwhile, amidst his ongoing fight speculations, Alex Pereira has revealed an interesting dream match.
Alex Pereira Wants To Fight Jon Jones
Pereira has already expressed his willingness to switch to the heavyweight division. While a matchup with Tom Aspinall has been teased several times, the light heavyweight champion has something else in mind. Speaking with Caroline Pearce, the Brazilian was asked who his dream fight would be.
“Well, it’s hard to pick one… but right now, Jon Jones’ fight has caught my attention,” Pereira said. Unfortunately, that might not be a possibility at this time. Tom Aspinall has been waiting in the wings for a long time. And Dana White too, has expressed his willingness to make the match in 2025. Most importantly, Jones has stated that he will retire in 2025. Thus, with things getting interesting, it remains to be seen who fights Poatan next.
