What Is the ADCC Submission Fighting World Championship?
ADCC, the competition, debuted in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in 1998. Since 2001, it has been held every two years, except in 2021, because of the global COVID-19 epidemic. Brazil, China, Finland, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States have all served as hosts.
Participants are only permitted to participate by invitation or after winning ADCC trials. Although most competitors are from Brazilian jiu-jitsu, competitors from other grappling styles are welcome. ADCC, known as “Abu Dhani is the Olympics of grappling,” is regarded as the world’s most renowned submission grappling competition.

Craig Jones, one of history’s most renowned BJJ instructors, recently appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
He has two ADCC silver medals and is a longtime black belt. The ADCC is regarded as the pinnacle of BJJ matches. On August 16 and 17, Jones will host an invitational BJJ competition. The dates immediately conflict with the ADCC schedule for this year.

Joe Rogan talks about when he was a blue belt during the early 2000s; he talks about how Jean Jacques went to Abu Dhabi and made them proud. He added, “ He never relied on grabbing collars; everything was about over and under hooks.” Rogan said, If Abu Dhabi had not done this prestigious event and made it no gee game, I think the sport would have really struggled.”
Jean Jacques Machado is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner born on February 12, 1968.
Machado is well-known for his grappling abilities. In 2001, he placed second in the open division and won the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championships in his weight class. His accomplishments in the sport earned him an induction into the ADCC Hall of Fame, joining the class of 2024.
