Alex Pereira has taken over the UFC since making his debut three years back in the Middleweight division. He has won two titles at two divisions in the company and beat five champions in his first nine fights in the UFC. He is a true knockout artist and has won most of his fights via knockouts in the first rounds.
In this article, we examine why Alex Pereira might become one of the greatest champions in the company’s and MMA’s history.
1. Knockout Pedigree
There have been many knockout stars in the company in the past, but no one quite like Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira in the Octagon. The man finished the former champion Jamahal Hill in the first round in the main event of UFC 300.
Pereira has one of the most lethal weapons in his arsenal: his left hook. He has slept almost every major champion he has faced in the octagon. He is set to face more formidable challenges in the cage in near future, and it will be interesting to see if he can use his left hook to his advantage in the octagon.
2. Potential Three-Time Champion
Alex Pereira is probably the only guy who can potentially acquire three titles at three different divisions in the UFC. He has already won the middleweight and light heavyweight straps. It will be interesting to see if he can go on to win the Heavyweight strap in the sport.
The 36-year-old fighter has already made it clear that he wants to acquire a UFC strap in the Heavyweight division after becoming a king in the Middleweight and Light Heavyweight divisions. Even Chael Sonnen agreed that Pereira could win gold in three different divisions in the UFC.

3. Versatility
Many say Pereira is a kickboxer, but he has shown that the man can grapple with anyone in the cage in his previous few fights. He fought off the takedown attempts of Jan Blachowiz and Israel Adesanya and showed that he is improving. He is teammates with the perennial grappler Glover Teixeira, which means he is in good hands.
