New York Yankees hitter and outfielder Giancarlo Stanton has returned to the team looking slimmer and trimmer, and fans can barely recognize him.
The Yankees are getting set for their first Spring Training game of the season, which they’ll play against the Detroit Tigers this Saturday. Stanton, who joined his teammates in Tampa, Florida for Spring Training, is looking to return to top form and has lost some significant weight ahead of the 2024 season after recording multiple career lows.
The 34-year-old stands at 6ft 6in and is listed at 245 LBS. However, he’s shown in a photo sharing a laugh with Aaron Judge, who is just one inch taller but looks a lot bigger than him now.
Check him out below:
“Wow that’s crazy it looks like he got shorter too,” one fan wrote.
“They said taller players are more prone to injury, so he slimmed down and cut 5 inches off his height,” wrote another. “He’s serious about this season.”

A former two-time NL MVP and two-time home run leader, Stanton had a poor 2023 campaign in which he recorded a BA of .211 and an OBP of .275. He is likely banking on an upgrade in fitness helping him out of an uncharacteristic personal campaign.
To be fair, he’s not all that unrecognizable, just a lot thinner than fans might be used to. As for his height, it could be the angle making him look a bit shorter.
