![Yankees Could Add Another Reliever To Their Squad](https://www.totalprosports.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/New-York-Yankees-Logo-1-1024x563.jpg)
The New York Yankees have a strong pitching rotation heading into the 2025 season. They have acquired All-Star pitchers for their starting rotation and bullpen. Max Fried and Devin Williams are the latest additions and will play a crucial role for the team.
The Yanks have also addressed their third base issues by looking toward internal options. Yet, they seem to have room for another backup reliever to join the squad. The Bronx Bombers have not entered spring training and are already dealing with injured pitchers. It turns out that Jake Cousins has a forearm strain and is in the middle of a no-throw.
To make matters worse, Clayton Beeter has a shoulder injury. No timeline has been set as to when these pitchers will get back into form. That said, there is a vacant space for the Yankees to fill. Rumors are the Yanks could pivot free agent Buck Farmer.

Clayton Beeter had a shoulder injury. He’s a little behind pace for his build up.
Farmer is eagerly waiting to find a home after a decent stint with the Cincinnati Reds last year. Farmer pitched more than 60 games and recorded a decent 3.04 ERA. He struck out 70 opponent hitters. However, the Reds have not expressed interest in a reunion.
Yankees Could Acquire Buck Farmer Without Financial Damage
The Yanks have spent enough on their offseason, targeting several top players. Fried’s contract alone was a significant amount. However, they will not need to dry the bank with Farmer. The pitcher’s projected value is only $6 million, which seems doable for the Yanks.
Moreover, they could play the bargain game since not many teams have expressed interest in Farmer. For all we know, they could even seal a deal for $5 million. Farmer will be a great backup for the Yankees in case of injuries.

Farmer’s ERA is not too bad, but he has slight issues with his fastball velocity. The pitcher can be a substantial addition alongside Luke Weaver, Ian Hamilton, Devin Williams, and Tim Hill. The Yanks have veteran pitchers who can help guide Farmer to pick up the pace. With top pitchers like Gerrit Cole and Fried to help out, Farmer will do just fine. Yankees skipper Aaron Boone recently opened up on the Dodgers’ post-season thrash talk.
