The New York Yankees had one of the most disappointing defeats in baseball history after dropping Game 5 to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Yanks squandered a five-run lead after committing several errors in the game.
During the top of the fifth inning, the Dodgers trailed 5-0 with the bases loaded and two out. Mookie Betts hit a ground ball off Gerrit Cole to Anthony Rizzo at first base, but Rizzo could not make the play. Neither did Cole run to first base to get Betts out.
After their mistake, the Dodgers scored five runs to tie the game. However, the Boys in Blue scored seven runs and won the 2024 World Series.
Yankees fans were unable to get over their disastrous inning, so they took to social media to vent their frustration over their loss. Kevin Clancy of KFC Barstool shared the video on X.

“70% on Rizzo. 30% on Cole. That’s an easy ground ball to charge and take to first yourself,” wrote one fan.
“That’s Rizzos play dude. Ever play?” asked one fan.
“Cole got lazy on that play and it ended up costing the Yankees there season,” another fan responded.
“We played terrible they deserve it,” added another fan.
“300 million to point to the first baseman and tell him it’s his job to cover the base,” one fan said.
“Kermit Cole melts when the lights are brightest. Can’t even remember to cover first,” one fan chipped in.
“The Yankees were up 5 or 6 runs with the dodgers didn’t even have a single hit. Yikes,” one fan said.
“Really and all time disaster of an inning,” another fan responded.

Yankees Captain Aaron Judge Upset About Haunting Loss
Aaron Judge was the first to get the Yankees on the board after smashing a two-run blast at the bottom of the first inning. Above all, Judge dropped a crucial catch at the top of the first inning.
The slugger opened up in a post-game interview as he seemed upset about the haunting loss. Judge told reporters that the loss would stick with him until his death.
“I think falling short in the World Series will stick with me until I die, probably,” – Judge said
The Bronx Bombers have embarked on a long and memorable journey this season and they have entered the World Series for the first time since 2009.
As a result, the Yanks can only hope for a better season next year as they prepare to come back stronger. Moreover, one of the biggest questions that remains is whether they will be able to re-sign Juan Soto with a competitive offer. Soto will have several teams interested in signing him during the offseason.
