Juan Soto’s free agency saga has finally ended as the outfielder chose the New York Mets as his destination. There will not be any free agency news of Soto for a long time since he’s signed a 15-year deal with the Mets.
The New York Yankees were not far behind with their offer as they agreed to sign Soto for $760 million. However, their proposed deal was for 16 years. Given the numbers, it’s clear that Soto chose the Mets for an extra $5 million over a 15-year deal. Or, he never wanted to be a New York Yankee.
Soto’s signing has delighted Mets fans, but some Yankees fans are unhappy with his decision, especially since they have come this close.

Juan Soto’s Contract Has No Distinction For Deferred Money
Steve Cohen has gone all out to bring Soto to Queens. The Mets owner set Juan Soto’s contract with a $75 million signing bonus. Unlike Shohei Ohtani, the star slugger’s contract has no distinction for deferred money.
Ohtani has the second biggest contract, but the two-way star has $680 million in deferred money. That said, Soto has reaped the best from the Mets. Furthermore, he has a deal that would last him to the end of his career.
It’s hard to blame the Yankees and Hal Steinbrenner since they almost matched their opponent’s offer. It’s a hard day for some Yankee fans, but many believe they have better chances of signing more players than Juan Soto alone.
