Just when you think you’ve seen it all, somebody goes and does something even crazier and adds it to the list.
At least two people were wounded by gunfire during a baseball game Friday night at Chicago’s Guaranteed Rate Field earlier this week.
A 42-year-old woman was hospitalized in fair condition after suffering a gunshot wound to her leg during a game between the Chicago White Sox and the Oakland Athletics, the Chicago Police Department said in a news release Friday.
We are now getting more information about how that happened and who had the gun.
Another 26-year-old woman was grazed in the stomach area and refused medical treatment, police said. There was a reason for that.
According to a report from ESPN Chicago reporter Peggy Kusinski, one of the women injured in the shooting snuck the gun into the stadium in her “belly fat” to get it past the metal detectors. There was an accidental discharge of the gun that led to injuries for both women.

“As I reported on @ESPN1000 just now… the shooting at Guaranteed Rate Field during a #WhiteSox game was indeed an accidental discharge by one of the women ‘grazed’ by the bullet,” Kusinski said. “She reportedly snuck the gun in past metal detectors hiding it in the folds of her belly fat.”
Before either woman in the stands would receive medical attention inside the ballpark, another unknown person would allegedly take the gun and flee the scene.
The White Sox released a statement early Saturday saying two fans were “struck by bullets” at the game and wished them a speedy recovery.
“It is unclear to investigators whether the shots were fired from outside or inside the ballpark,” the team said in the statement posted on social media. “While the police continue to investigate, White Sox security confirms that this incident did not involve an altercation of any kind.”
What we do not know is if that woman will face charges for her actions and if the White Sox will ban her from the stadium for life.
