The Houston Astros will probably never live down those scathing cheating scandals from the 2017 and 2018 seasons…nor should they.
Still to this day, you can bet that most players continue to suspect the 2017 World Series champions of cheating. White Sox reliever Ryan Tepera is certainly on that list.
Following Chicago’s Game 3 victory over Houston on Sunday night, he took to the podium and flat-out accused Houston of cheating during the first two games of the series at Minute Maid Park.
Here’s how he put it:
“They’ve obviously had a reputation of doing some sketchy stuff over there. It’s just, we can say that it’s a little bit of a difference, you know? I think you saw the swings and misses tonight compared to the first two games at Minute Maid.”
The Astros won the first two games of the series at home, 6-1 and 9-4, while the Sox bounced back in game three with a 12-6 victory at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Of course, the Astros were found to have used electronics to steal signs during their World Series run in 2017, as well as during the 2018 season, when they lost to the Red Sox in the ALCS.
Houston put up a respectable six runs on Sunday night. But after striking out just 16 times in Games 1 and 2 combined, the Astros batters struck out a total of 16 times in Game Three alone. Makes you wonder, maybe Tepera’s onto something here.
