Major League Baseball and the Tampa Bay Rays are well aware of the disgusting social media posts that have been floating around about Wander Franco.
The star shortstop has been accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old minor. The fact that he is seen in a picture with the young girl means he cannot exactly deny something is going on.
The Tampa Bay Rays released a statement regarding shortstop Wander Franco and allegations made against him on social media on Sunday. The Rays said they were “made aware” of social media posts about Franco on Sunday and Major League Baseball is conducting “its due diligence” about the matter.

“During today’s game, we were made aware of the social media posts that are circulating regarding Wander Franco,” the Rays said in their statement. “We take the situation seriously and are in close contact with Major League Baseball as it conducts its due diligence.”
The Rays didn’t specify which social media posts they were referring to, but it’s clear what they are speaking on.
Following the contest, manager Kevin Cash noted that Franco’s absence from Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians was simply “a day off.”
The 22-year-old was at the stadium and sat in the dugout until the fifth inning, but he wasn’t in the clubhouse postgame, according to Tampa Bay Times’ Kristie Ackert. He was given the day off despite the team having a Franco-themed snapback hat giveaway for kids 14 and under.
Franco signed an 11-year extension with the Rays in November 2021. He was selected to his first All-Star Game this season and is hitting .281/.344/.475 in 112 games.
